The Port Hedland Port Authority says despite the current slowdown in the Australian mining sector, it has recorded its largest dead weight tonnage vessel at the port.
Iron ore carrier Daniel N left Port Hedland earlier this month with a total weight of more than 297,000 tonnes.
The previous record was set in June, 2010 by the Anangel Haili at more than 260,000 tonnes.
The authority’s CEO, Roger Johnston, says the latest milestone illustrates the port’s continuing record-breaking performance.
